Company History

Fellowship Theatre Company was formed by Keith Roe in 1985 with the aim of providing a high standard of musical theatre whilst raising much needed funds for local charities. The first production was "A Concert of Light Music" at the University Drama Studio in June 1985 when £233 was raised for the British Heart Foundation.

Through the years, Keith has promoted several musical concerts at the University Drama Studio, The Octagon, The Lyceum and Crucible Theatres, Sheffield City Hall, as well as various musicals including West Side Story and Carousel. This period of musical theatre culminated in a production of Guys and Dolls, performed in the main auditorium at the Crucible Theatre in September 1992.

In December 1991, Keith produced the very first Christmas Musical Cavalcade at the City Hall, Sheffield. In the programme was a balance of seasonal and non-seasonal music performed by some of the finest singers from the north of England. There were two choirs on stage and a wonderful 46 piece orchestra which has become the trademark of all the Musical Cavalcades. This concert was the start to a calendar that has seen "A Christmas Musical Cavalcade" every year since with the exception of 2004, due to the temporary closure of the City Hall for refurbishment.

In March 1990, Keith organised a Musical Cavalcade at the Crucible Theatre to raise money for the Lyceum Theatre Appeal. This set a tradition for having a musical event in the summer months. In recent years, the summer concerts hve been replaced by ballroom dancing events in the City Hall Ballroom.

So far, over £100,000 has been donated to charity.
